What Is Dark Souls?
Dark Souls is a third person action game where you basically create a character and kill a bunch monsters. The Souls games have a reputation for being very hard and punishing, and while these games definitely deserve that reputation, that’s not why most of us like them.
No one likes a game simply because it’s hard, it’s the utmost satisfaction when you finally overcome these difficult adversities that we love. That’s actually one of the core pillars of the franchise. It’s hard but fair, and very rewarding to players who succeed.
You start playing as a relatively weak character and build it in whatever way you want. By killing enemies you get their souls, which can be put into different attributes. Depending on which attributes you decide to invest, your character could become a warrior armed heavy weapons, a heavy shield and armor.
Or you could become a spellcaster who’s light on his feet. There are a lot of options on how to build your character, and building something different is one of the main reasons why players come back to these games even after they beat them several times.
