5. The Sorrow (Metal Gear 3)
This creepy ghost was named after the pain he feels when lives are lost. So, he’s kinda like a haunted Jedi that will rip your face off if given the chance. The interesting part about this ghost, and what made him so unnerving, was that his difficulty was based on previous game choices.
If you went on a murder-death-kill spree in MGS 3, this guys gonna wreck you. His pain becomes your pain, and that’s scary if you’ve been…uhh..less than stealthy in this game.
4. Cynthia Velasquez (Silent Hill 4)
Hands down, Silent Hill is one of the greatest horror franchises of all time. Countless gamers have unending nightmares about the terrors they see and experience in the series’ games. In Silent Hill 4, you encounter six ghosts, all victims of the deranged Walter Sullivan.
They’ve each got their own creep factor, but Cynthia’s was on another level. She just…kept…coming back. If you didn’t take her out when you first encountered her, well, she was a horrifying recurring theme to the game.
3. Poes (The Legend of Zelda)
Okay, so, the original Poes from Ocarina of Time were not that creepy, but the Poes we encountered in Twilight Princess were downright ReDead level of creepy. Haunted visages of hatred and death, instead of the campy colored ghosts, were enough to haunt our dreams for a long time after this game was completed.
2. Lisa (P.T)
Granted the game was never finished, but it’s ghosts still count! Lisa is the ghost who tries to stop you from escaping your looping hallway prison, and will do anything to keep you there for all eternity.
Though she will never exist beyond the trailers, she does an excellent job of being skin-crawlingly scary by getting up in your face in the previews.
1. Blinky, Pinky, Inky & Clyde (Pac-Man)
Stop laughing, because these guys were scary and you know it. Just one touch from these ghosts are you were dead. Just one. No health bars, no healing potions, just…dead. Game Over; Insert Coin.
That’s truly terrifying. A ghost that one-shots you regardless of how many levels you’ve been though.
